Simply…
We are continuing our collection of fresh ideas for re-using everyday objects. In this issue we gave a second life to a collection of glass jars.
Glass jars of different sizes can store the leftovers of beans, spices, and other dried goods. Wash the jars and lids thoroughly with mild soap and warm water. Make sure that there are no lingering smells. Use bigger containers to store beans and small pastas. Smaller ones are perfect for spices. In the Craft section we offer you templates for the labels that you can glue onto the jars.
Use medium-sized glass jars to bring your soup or drinks for lunch. Most jars have a leak proof rubber band, so you do not have to worry about spilling the soup all over the content of your purse. Keep in mind that !!! glass jars are not microwave-safe !!! (unless indicated otherwise), but you can heat up the content by placing the jar in hot water (similar to the way Bain-Marie (double boiler) works).
An obvious way to reuse a jam container is to fill it with some homemade jam. For those of you who do not like making preserves or jams, here is another idea. Use pretty glass jars to package fragile gifts, such as cookies, truffles, or even candies. If you feel artistic decorate the jar with ribbons or acrylic paint.
With some old wax stubs left from the store-bought candles, candle wicks, and glass jars you can make new candles. Mix different colours and add essential oils to create a one-of-a-kind candle. For more instructions on candle making, see our tutorial in the Craft section.
