Wildlife sanctuary and Easter showcase

It is Friday and before going on a well-deserved Easter break (only until Monday) PassiFlora blog is leaving you an interesting video to watch.

As I was flipping the channels last weekend I stumbled across CTV’s W-Five - an investigative news program. Unlike the usual investigation, this time W-Five was dedicated to tell the story of Aspen Valley Wildlife Sancutary:

a non-profit, non-government funded, registered charity founded by Audrey Tournay in seventies. As a high school teacher, Audrey Tournay would teach her classrooms about the wildlife and dispel the many myths about raccoons, porcupines, skunks etc. In 1972, Audrey moved to Aspen Valley and it was then that the first raccoon was rehabilitated. In 1982, Audrey finished her teaching career and completely dedicated her life to the care of orphaned and injured animals, never turning an animal away.

Today, Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary survives solely on donations from individuals who care about the preservation of our wildlife and believe in the work Audrey started.

The program tells the story of the everyday life of the sanctuary, showing the care animals get on the premises. The program highlights the journeys of certain animals from the day they were brought to the sanctuary until the day of the release into the wild. It is a great episode and I highly recommend watching it. You can either follow the link to W-Five website, or watch it from the Sanctuary’s website. And please browse through the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary’s website; it has so much interesting information about wildlife and the history of the sanctuary.

Here is a new entry for PassiFlora’s Easter showcase: Diane Gilleland from CraftyPod made, or should I say weaved, beautiful baskets from cardboard boxes:

She has a great tutorial at CraftStylish describing in details how to turn a cardboard food box into an Easter basket.

If you have a creative Easter idea send us a picture and we will feature it in our blog (along with the link to your website). PassiFlora email is: passifloramag@gmail.com

Have a green Easter weekend!
