2-for-1 Wednesday

Veg*n

Veggie Global - an online veggie resource has a detailed table about the nature of food additives.

It can be difficult to determine if some types of additives are derived from animals or not. This is because it all depends on how the additive has been manufactured in the first place. In Europe and Australia food additives are listed by a labeling system called “E Numbers”.

If you live in U.S., Canada, or other country that does not use E numbers, here is a table with the names of different additives. And here is the one with E numbers.

David Suzuki foundation is launching a Living Room Challenge:

gather in your living rooms with friends, family, neighbors and colleagues to reflect on what’s most crucial to our quality of life. The David Suzuki Foundation needs your support to continue its work of protecting our most essential resources. Whether you raise $5 or $500, it’s important that we start turning to one another to reflect on our shared future.

I think it’s an amazingly easy and yet efficient way to raise donations and influence decisions of policy-makers. Gathering with your loved ones, discussing what is important for you, and spending some time together - it can not get easier. To get more information about the challenge and watch D. Suzuki’s video go to the living room challenge page.

Craft

If you are an avid reader (or know someone who is) this bookmark would make a great gift. It uses leftover ribbon, buttons, and a label or a cute image cut out of the magazine.
