Veg*n resource: Barnivore

When I became vegan, one of the biggest discoveries I had was the amount of non-vegan products in my everyday life.  Some of them were quite obvious (like cheese and croissants), others were harder to spot (sugar and wine).  As it turns out

Brewmasters, winemakers, and distillers may include animal ingredients in their products directly, or they might use them in the processing and filtration.

These ingredients don’t usually show up on the label, so the only way to find out is to ask.

And asking is what people at Barnivore are doing.  They are emailing companies to find out whether your favorite Merlot is vegan or not.  They are also double checking the information several months later to insure that the products do not contain any animal ingredients.  And if you want to contribute to the collection - join the community and submit your entry.
